Tucked in the piney woods of Southeast Texas, we craft small-batch teas from local yaupon holly—North America’s only native caffeinated plant. Our leaves are hand-picked from wild-grown plants right here in Lumberton, Texas. We harvest responsibly from wild-grown plants and keep things simple: no pesticides, herbicides, or added chemicals—just careful roasting and a focus on flavor.
Yaupon possesses a gentle caffeine and good antioxidants (like traditional Chinese teas) and natural theobromine (the thing that makes chocolate oh so good). Yaupon tea is also naturally low in tannins, which helps create a smooth, clean cup that’s refreshing hot, iced, or cold-brewed.
At Hidden Thicket Tea Works, our goal is to share a tea that brings gentle, warm energy to your day while helping conserve the woodlands it comes from.
